I admit it, I am a bit obsessed with Body Combat. I have been doing this group fitness class on and off for about 10 years and it is still my absolute favourite. It was therefore a no-brainer for me to pick this as the first group fitness class to start teaching. You can find my classes on the group fitness page.
If you have never heard of Body Combat it is quite simple to explain – it is a 60 minute high-energy martial arts-inspired workout that is totally non-contact (meaning you do not punch or kick anyone during the class!). You do not need any martial arts experience and you will learn moves from Karate, Taekwondo, Boxing, Muay Thai, Capoeira and Kung Fu. It is absolutely fantastic for releasing stress, burning calories and coming away feeling empowered and strong. Every muscle group is targeted during this full body workout and you will destroy calories through a variety of punches, kicks, blocks and elbows. All of these moves are set to really motivating and powerful music, which helps to push you through to the end of the class whilst giving it your all!
According to research by Les Mills (the overarching company behind Body Combat – they also own Body Pump, Body Balance, Body Attack, CX Work etc) a Body Combat class can burn up to 740 calories. Obviously this is dependent on how much effort your put in and your condition, but it shows that Body Combat is a great calorie busting class.
